Comparing Raw Food Diet to Vegetarian

What’s the difference between a vegetarian diet and a raw food diet? Basically, a raw foodist is a vegetarian who does not cook his veggies and fruits, whereas a vegetarian is someone who eats vegetable, pasta and rice but does not consume poultry, fish or meat.

When in a restaurant, a vegetarian might order spaghetti with meatless sauce or onion rings, and even though these choices are not the healthiest, more often, a vegetarian finds it very difficult to eat in a restaurant and it’s even harder if you are into raw foods.

This includes fruitarians, vegans and, etc. Raw foodist is categorized under vegetarianism. Although sushi is considered raw food, it is not officially acknowledged since it is fish most of the time, but still it is raw food. Generally, however, raw food means eating uncooked, raw fruits, vegetables, seaweeds, dried fruits, nuts and the likes.

However, being a raw food purist means eating raw, uncooked broccoli and not steamed. For a vegetarian who is committed not to consume fish, meat or animal products, vegetables that are steamed are just as good, even though it is a fact that steaming can render vegetables less nutritious by taking out nutrients.

Vegetarians might eat egg products as well as dairy products but a vegan will never consume any animal product at all, while a raw foodist is a vegan who only eats unprocessed and uncooked raw foods.

Raw diet advocates believe that the life force of a food is enzymes and that all food contains its very own perfect mix. These enzymes assist the body in completely digesting the food that we eat without depending on the body to generate its own mix of digestive enzymes.

It is believed as well that the process of cooking the food destroys the vitamins and minerals it contains. It’s also thought of that cooked foods do not only take a long time to digest as compared to raw foods, but they also let partially digested fats, carbohydrates, and protein to block our arteries and clog up our guts.

Followers of the raw food diet cited the following as just a few of the numerous benefits one can get by eating raw foods: increased level of energy, improved appearance of the skin, significant improvement of digestion, reduced risk of heart diseases, weight loss and a whole lot more.
